when I went from dark to bright it didn't work for me. You could still see the darker colour through the top layer
Were you using titanium white or Zinc white? Zinc is transparent and hard to build up highlights with. Or could also be that you were using a bit too much water? It’s hard to say not seeing you paint but those are my first thoughts. Hope this helps? 😊

What a view! Purple, with dashes of pink, mountain majesty. The colors are stellar. Glowy. From the burning sun, to the campfire, there's a depth to the paint.
